Biography

Chris Hollett, BN, RN, CCP, CNCC (C), CCP-C, FP-C

Chris Hollett has recently completed a Critical Care Paramedic Certification from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. Following the program, Chris completed the Critical Care Paramedic certification and Flight Paramedic certification from the Board for Critical Care Transport Paramedic Certification. Chris Hollett also completed Holland College's Distributed Learning Advanced Care Paramedic Program (2008 - 2011). Prior to this, Chris Hollett completed the Bachelor of Nursing program at Memorial Universities Center for Nursing Studies in 2002. During this time, Chris also completed the Paramedic Level I program from Eastern Health's Programs in Paramedicine (2001). Chris has worked with the Canadian Coast Guard's Inshore Rescue Boat program in Bonavista Bay serving as a crewmember during the summers of 1998 and 1999. The following summer, Chris took charge of one of the programs fast rescue craft serving as the boats coxswain. Following graduation, having enlisted in the Canadian Forces, Chris was posted to 26 Canadian Forces Health Services Center in Greenwood, Nova Scotia as a Nursing Officer and Flight Nurse. Chris also worked as a casual Paramedic with Emergency Health Services from the Middleton, Nova Scotia base. During his time in Nova Scotia, Chris also completed the Critical Care Nursing program from the Registered Nurses Professional Development Center.

As part of his duties with the Canadian Navy Chris was deployed to Afghanistan from August 2005 - April 2006. During his time in Afghanistan Chris spent three months in Camp Julien, Kabul, where he worked in the emergency and critical care settings. Chris was also responsible for patient transfers outside of the base. Chris was then transferred to Kandahar Airfild where he worked with the US Army at the 249th General Hospital. In addition to his role as an emergency and critical care nurse, Chris also flew medevac flights with American crews on Blackhawk helicopters. After a need was identified for critical care nurses at Bagram Air Force Base, Chris volunteered to assist in the critical care wards and recovery room at that facility.

Throughout his deployment, Chris was the training officer for other deployed nursing officers and medics in critical care areas. Chris' experiencies not only included the care of coalition forces, but also Afghani military forces and civilians.

Chris holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and is the Commanding Officer of the 35 (Sydney) Field Ambulance which has footprints in Newfoundland, New Brunswick, and Cape Breton.
